Alton Monroe Keith (Dry) was born on December 27, 1943 in Conway SC to the late George Keith and Mamie Bellamy Keith. He departed this earthly life February 17, 2021. He was the second born of eight children. Alton graduate from Whittemore High School in 1963. After graduating from high school, he moved to Washington, DC. In Washington he worked in civil service until he was drafted in the US Army. He served a tour in Thailand and before his tour ended, he became a prisoner of war over six months. After recovering from his experience as a POW he was honorably discharged and return to Washington, DC. His dream was to go west, and he did. He resided in California over forty years. He enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. Alton loved his horses and playing golf. He would travel and participate in the Bill Pickett rodeos. He also participated with the Buffalo Soldiers chapter in Ojai, California. Alton worked as a supervisor with the Dairy Farmers of America Corporation. He enjoyed working for the company and retired two years ago.
