With deepest sadness we announce that Bernard ”Bernie” Gonos, 80, devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on June 29th while in South Carolina.
Bernie is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janice, their daughter Beverly (Paul); sons Jeffrey (Stacie) and Daniel (Barbra), his grandchildren Jay (Amanda), Nicole (Cory), Aaron (Alexandra), Lindsey, Jacob, Nathan and Lila as well as his two great-grandchildren, Leo and Reese.
Bernie served in the United States Navy and loved spending time with his family. He began taking his kids camping at a very young age. The tradition continued over the next 50 years, with family gathering on holiday weekends, summers in Myrtle Beach and even cross-country trips.
Bernie had a passion for antique and customized cars. He loved watching car restoration shows and had the opportunity to visit Gas Monkey Garage when visiting his son in Dallas, Texas. Bernie leaves behind his own classic project car, a unique1954 Ford Skyliner, which he restored to its original condition.
Bernie was selflessly devoted to his family and especially loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who referred to him as “Pap.” He will be greatly missed and the memories of him will be held in our hearts forever.
