Mr. Billie Ray Hickman, son of the late Deacon Vernon and Deaconess Velma Long Hickman was born on September 1, 1944 in Conway, South Carolina. He departed this earthly life on April 13, 2022 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He attended Whittemore High School, class of 1966. He was affectionately known as “Billy the Kid” and “Kid”. He was a loving and humbly spirit with love and concern for everyone. He loved being a gardener and driving around with his brothers and friends to get fresh vegetables during the summer. He was reared in a Christian home and accepted Christ as his personal Savior at a young age and became a member of the Mt. Pisgah MB Church, where in his earlier years served as a sexton and usher. In his later years, he recommitted himself to Christ and loved coming to Sunday School and Worship Service. He was employed with Dupont of Florence before moving to Washington, DC. After relocating back home, he worked with his father’s logging company and later worked with Stevens Construction and Fleming Construction. He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother, Bobby Hickman; brother, Lee Hickman and sister, Shirley Hickman Butler. He leaves to cherish his memories four sisters, Mildred Welch, Mary (Stewart) Strothers, Carolyn Hickman-Williams, and Linda (Dea. Quantrel) Brown; four brothers, Dea. Lonnie (Sarah) Hickman, Vernon (Georgia) Hickman, Hayward (Terri) Hickman, and Dea. Charles (Patricia) Hickman; a host of loving and caring nieces and nephews; cousins, other relatives and friends
