Mrs. Candetha (Candy) Stanley was received into Heaven amongst happily waiting ancestors on May 5th, 2021 in Wesley Chapel, Florida. She was born on February 9th, 1941 in the Wampee Community, now known as Little River, in South Carolina where she resided the entirety of her life until most recently. Candetha was well known, well loved, and well admired for her powerful gifts of giving and storytelling. She truly held God’s law of tithing her talents to heart. There are many in the community who are recipients of “her gifts back to the world.” She most recently published a book of short stories entitled, “Butter Beans, Collard Greens, and Wishful Things.”
She was an influential educator to her students at Union Primary School in Shallotte, NC, having earned her bachelor’s from Barber-Scotia College in Concord, NC, and her Master’s in Education from the University of South Carolina in Columbia. Her legacy of teaching students spanned over thirty years.
Candetha was married to the late Mr. Ernest Stanley and to this union two sons were born. Tyron Dale Stanley (Michelle), and Ernest Sean Kelly Stanley. She leaves one special great-nephew Emanuel (Ryan) Fernandez, who she raised as her own, and one brother Mr. Ivory Lee Green (Bessie Green (deceased). Cherishing and honoring her memories are a large loving hosts of family members of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Public viewing will be at Latimer's Funeral Home Wed. May 12, 2021 5-7PM. The Funeral will be held Thursday May 13, 2021 11AM at St Joseph MBC. Burial will follow at ST Paul AME Little River, SC
