Carl Clifton Chestnut ‘CC’, the son of the late Earl and Alberta Vereen Chestnut was born on February 1, 1942 in the Popular Community of Horry County, Longs, South Carolina. He departed this earthly life on October 19, 2022 at his home.
At an early age he accepted Christ and joined Chesterfield MB Church. Carl was a 1960 graduated from Chestnut Consolidated High School.
Carl moved to Hempstead Long Island New York in the early 60’s. He was a factory worker until in 1964 he entered into the military. He is a Vietnam War Veteran.
‘CC’, as his friends called him was a very loveable person who love to have fun. He also enjoyed fishing. After serving his country he returned to Long Island and became a construction worker. He then met and married Jacqueline Conyers. Carl was employed also with the Long Island Railroad Company in which he retired and then moved back to South Carolina.
He is preceded to the grave by his parents, his wife, Jacqueline Conyers-Chestnut; two brothers, Andrew Chestnut and Floyd Chestnut; his sister, Gertha Stanley; his daughter, Betty Sue “Pound” Cox-Smith, and a son Ronald Conyers Herring.
Carl leaves his cherished sweet memories to four children, Roddie (Lynn) Cox, of Columbia, SC, Keshia Conyers-Herring of Freeport, NY; Pierre Chestnut (Daisy) of Longs, SC and Marquis (Shonta Pettaway) Chestnut of Hempstead, NY; five grandchildren, Jamie Smith, Trey Cox, Pierre Chestnut, Jr., Mia Chestnut and Quincey Terrell Chestnut; one great-granddaughter, Jamari Smith; two brothers, Marion (Veronica) Chestnut of Longs, SC and Lloyd (Cynthia) Chestnut of Myrtle Beach, SC; three sisters, Sandra (Larry) Jones of Conway, SC, Sharon (Ray) Scott and Evon Hemingway, both of Longs, SC; two sisters-in-law, Wanda Chestnut of Longs, SC and Elsye Conyers Brown of Hempstead, NY; special friends, Chivas Wilson, Curven Chestnut, Ricky Dewitt and George Willard; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Burial will follow in The Florence National Cemetery
