Mrs. Charlene B. Taylor was born on March 2, 1940 to Jocephus and Roberta Bellamy, in Conway, South Carolina. She accepted Christ at an early age and was an active member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church for many years. As the wife of her late husband, Wilson E. Taylor, she raised three children, Tony, Carla and Brian, in the Town of Atlantic Beach. Charlene moved her church membership to First Missionary Baptist Church, Atlantic Beach and served dutifully up until her death. Her desire to serve led her to positively impact not only the church, but the surrounding community as well.
Charlene extended her desire to serve by getting involved with the governance of the Town of Atlantic Beach. She was appointed and served many years as a member of the Town of Atlantic Beach's Housing Authority, where she served as Chairperson. She was appointed to the Town of Atlantic Beach Town Council and then was elected to two additional terms. During that time she served as Mayor Pro Tem of the Council and Interim Mayor. Charlene did all this while working full time with National Bank of South Carolina (Synovus Bank), for thirty years.
Charlene leaves behind her three children, Tony, Carla and Brian and her granddaughter, Kyndal. She also leaves behind five brothers and one sister and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
