Deacon Jason Graham Obituary

Deacon Jason C. Graham, Sr. departed this life to be with his Lord on December 3, 2022. Jason was born April 8, 1952, in Conway, SC to the late Dea. J.D. Graham and the late Gracie Dozier Graham.

Jason was educated in the Horry County Public School System where he received his high school diploma in 1971. Upon completing high school, Jason moved to Temple Hills, Maryland  to live with his brother Lenwood. He attended Federal City College where he studied art for three years.

In 1973, Jason met an courted the beautiful Florence Fontaine Mebane. They would date for a few years and eventually they married on December 9, 1978. From this union, three children were born: Terrence, Jason Jr. and Jaquenetta.

During his lifetime, Jason was a hardworking provider for his family.  While in college, he worked at Red Barn as a fry cook.  He then decided to leave the fast food industry and was hired at Wilson Powell Dealership where he started out as a porter (detailing cars) and eventually became a manager of the “new car get ready” department there. Next, Jason transitioned to Montgomery Ward where he worked for a short time in the tire department.  Clearly, he was proving to be a man of many talents because he went on to work for the Navy Lodge in Washington, D.C. as a facilities engineer and also worked as a manager for Exxon.  Finally, Jason ended his working career by returning to Montgomery Ward and working there as a front-end mechanic until his health required he retire.

Jason received Jesus Christ in his life at an early age and he became a member of Mt. Calvary where he was active on the choir.   Years after moving to Maryland, Jason joined Peace Baptist Church in Dunn Loring, Virginia where he served as a devoted deacon from 1988– 2013.  He also served on the Usher board, Men’s choir, and Trustee board.  In 2013, Jason moved back to South Carolina and rejoined his home church, Mt. Calvary No. 1 Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on the Deacon board.

When Jason wasn’t reading or studying his Bible, he was passionate about his Art, Gardening, his Nascar racing, and his Las Angeles Rams. Jason was also a proud member of Good Intent Masonic Lodge #187 where he served as Chaplain.  He loved his siblings, nieces and nephews dearly and wouldn’t hesitate to put them on the spot about when they were coming to see him! The true love of his life was his dearly departed wife Florence who had his amazingly talented children. He was very proud of his family and loved having them around him.

Jason leaves to cherish his memory, two sons, Terrence N. Graham, Jason C. Graham, Jr. (Brittany), one daughter, Jaquenetta Graham, one grandson, A.J., two brothers George (Frances) Graham ,  John (JoeNell) Graham, and one sister Carrie (Timothy) Gerald.  Three brothers predeceased him:  Lenwood (Ruth) Graham, Dennis (Angieline) Graham, and L.P. (Alice) Graham and a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.
