The Funeral will be held Friday Oct. 4, 2024 at Bethel A.M.E. Church, Conway, SC 29527 at 11AM.

Burial  will follow in Rosehill Cemetery.

Deborah Benning was born November 14,1956 to the late Mildred M. Friday Gowans and Charles Hickman in Conway S.C. Deborah received her formal education in Horry County public schools and Horry Georgetown Technical College. Deborah accepted Christ at an early age and enjoyed serving the Lord. She faithfully attended Way of the Cross Family Worship Center until her health declined. 

Deborah was a “Jill of all trades” having worked as a C.N.A., factory worker, and bakery manager. However, she was exclusively known for her unmatched skills as a seamstress. Mastering dressmaking, needlework, tailoring, and sewing machine operation. She also enjoyed being a homemaker and staying connected with her loved ones & friends through memorable conversations on the telephone and her grand pad. 

Deborah was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, and sister. She is preceded in death by her husband Harry Benning Sr.,  Andrico Gowans (son),Mildred M. Friday Gowans (mother), Charles Hickman (father), Patrell McCray (sister), James Gowans (brother), and Pamela Kelly (sister). 

Deborah’s memory will live on through those left to cherish her. Children: Antonio Gowans (son), Samaine Gowans (son), Harry Benning Jr.(son), and Kia Bellamy (daughter). Siblings: Alicia McQueen (sister), Prentistine Rogers (sister), and Curtis Gowans (brother, Diane). As well as her loving grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and her many dear friends.
