Mr. Ernest Langston, born January 10, 1938, was the son of the late James (Aussie) Langston and Mary Page Langston. He departed this life on June 10, 2022. After a lengthy illness, in the family home surrounded by his loving wife, Annie, and sister, Mary he closed his eyes. God said, “It is finished my son, come home and take your rest.” Ernest was a veteran in the U.S. Army. He attended Horry County Schools and later ventured to Brooklyn, New York, where he married his first love, Edna. To this union was born three children: Edna Ann of Anderson, SC Ernest Jr. and Barry of New York. After the passing of his first wife, he married Annie Carney of Brooklyn, New York. She moved to South Carolina to join him in his hometown and church in Conway, SC, where he served as an usher until he became disabled. He leaves to remember the memories: his wife, Annie Carney-Langston, one daughter Edna Ann of Anderson, SC; two sons, Ernest Jr. and Barry Langston of New York; three sisters: Mary M. Langston, of Conway, SC; Lethia M. Smith (Paul), of Brooklyn, NY; Willamena Jackson, of Paterson, NJ; one step -son, Eric A. Carney (Rochelle), Brooklyn, NY; two brothers-in-law, Harold E. Carney of the home and Alton Carney (Rita) of NC; one sister-in-law, Gardenia Wilford (Empro),Tarboro, NC; He also leaves a host of grands and great-grands, nieces, nephews and in-laws, fishing and hunting buddies, and of course his usher board friends and family at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. A special thanks to a family friend, Ms. Edith Reaves for going above and beyond the call of duty by helping to plant flowers, trim shrubbery, house-cleaning, transporting, house-sitting, cooking and making sure we remained grounded with our eyes looking upward. Thank you to Amedisys Hospice Team for your professional care and dedicated service to Ernest and members of the house hold. Special gratitude to Nurse Kelly Hayes for her willingness to render answers to anyone who wanted to know specific details, as well as her readiness to come whenever called upon. And also Hospice Aide Solonda Myers for keeping Ernest as fresh as a newborn baby. Thanks to Doctors, White (surgeon), Wilkinson, (wound-care), Whittington (Primary Care), Shore (Urology), Zaenger (Radiation) for their care and support to the family.
