In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy path.” Ernestine Gore went home to be with the Lord on December 4, 2021. She was in a long term care facility at Brunswick Rehabilitation Center in Brunswick County, NC. She was born to the late John David Gore and Katie Stanley Gore on November 10, 1929 in the Brooksville Community of Horry County, South Carolina. Her mother died when she was a very young girl. The only mother she knew and loved was the late Marie Gore Allen. In addition to her parents and stepmother, her sisters Lenora Gore, Margaret Dozier, Alease Gore, brothers Anthony Gore, Johnnie Gore, and Walter Gore preceded her in death. Ernestine was born and reared in the state of South Carolina where her secular education began in the public schools of Horry County. She continued her higher education at Allen University and Fan - O -Lin School of Beauty. She joined St. Paul A.M. E. Church at an early age. In 1956 she moved to Brooklyn, New York. In 1957 she joined Bridge Street A.W.M.E. Church under the leadership of Reverend Roseco C. Henderson. She served her church in many capacities. She served as a member and in leadership roles such as Class Leader, President of Presiding Elder ’s Cabinet, Corresponding Secretary of the Class Leader ’s Board, Recording Secretary of the Bridge Street Federal Credit Union, Secretary of the President ’s Council, First Vice -President of the Lay Organization, and Woman ’s Day Committee Captain. Ernestine was blessed with the gift of working in peace and harmony with many people on many different projects. She was honored by Bridge Street Church ’s Commission on Social Action, and the Senior Citizen ’s Club. Before retiring, Ernestine received the Chase Manhattan Bank Outstanding Volunteer Award. She retired from Chase Manhattan Bank in 1987. After retirement, in 1988 she became active with many projects including the Bridge Street After -School Tutorial Center. She moved back to South Carolina in 2004 where she rekindled her membership with St. Paul A.M.E. Church, and was a faithful member until her illness. Ernestine leaves to cherish her memory, one son, George A. (Nora) Fore, Sr., Little River, SC; two grands, George (Lecksley) Fore, Jr., Columbia, SC, Gervais A. Fore, Orangeburg, SC; one great -grand, Noah Fore, Orangeburg, SC; adopted granddaughter, Trisha Vereen, adopted great-granddaughter, Angel Simmons both of Little River, SC; four sisters: Carolyn Gore Jones (Benny), Columbia, SC, Pauline Gore Edwards, Starr, SC, Peggy Gore (Lester), Brooksville, SC, and Doris Gore Bellamy (Cornelius), Longs, SC; three brothers: Ralph Gore (Doreatha), James E. Gore (Ruby) of Brooksville, SC, and Jerry Gore (Betty), Ocean Isle Beach, NC; two aunts, Lucille Batts and Victoria Grissett; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
The viewing will be Friday Dec. 10, 2021 2-6PM at Latimer's Funeral Home
The Funeral will be Saturday Dec. 11, 2021 1PM at St. Paul AME Cemetery.
