Elder Evangelist Mary Hazel Martin DeWitt peacefully transitioned from a faithful laborer to eternal reward at home in Lexington, Kentucky, on January 6, 2026. She was born to the late Reverend Thomas and Sallie Martin in Washington, Georgia, on June 22,1930. She was married to the late Deacon Timothy H. DeWitt. She is survived by her daughter, Undrail DeWitt Izlar (the late Reverend James L Izlar, Jr.); granddaughters, Marissia (Clifton) Hunt, Evangelist Tamera N. Izlar, and Jamie L. Izlar, Esquire; sister, Reverend Dr. Elizabeth T. Hodge (the late Theo Wallace); one cat (Kitty Gray); as well as a host of nieces and nephews, godchildren, spiritual children, and valued and esteemed relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Bethlehem #1 Missionary Baptist Church, 1503 Dirty Branch Road, Conway, South Carolina 29527, with burial following. Visitation will be 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 15th, at Latimer's Funeral Home - 816 Wright Blvd., Conway, South Carolina 29527, and 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday at the church.
