Gwendolyn L. Trice was born on November 18, 1922 to the late William and Edna Bland Buck in Houston, Texas. Gwen departed her earthly life on Sunday March 22, 2020 at her home. Gwen attended Phyllis Wheatly High School and graduated from Texas Southern University with a degree in nursing. Later she moved to New York City and continued her education at New York University majoring in Child Psychology. Gwen accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age, always says that her faith was her constant companion. She was a perfectionist who believed there was only one way to get things done and that was the right way. Gwen work experience: Administrator of Interfaith Hospital, Queens New York Director Child Care, YMCA, Texas and New York City Implemented First Latch Key Children Programs, Harris County, Houston, Texas Director of Half Way House for ex-offenders, Houston, Texas Employment Consultant, Waccamaw Area Agency on Aging Coastal Carolina University, Civics Affiliation Member of 1st Community Baptist Church Prison Ministry Council Member of Partnership for Young Children Organization Lifetime Member Veterans of Foreign Affairs of Wars Ladies Auxiliary #6262 Gwen is predeceased in death by her parents; husbands, Cleveland Jenkins, Lawrence Avant and John W. Trice; three brothers, Johnny, Harvey and E. B. Bland; two sisters, Joyce and Opal; a son, William B. Trice and a grandson, Derrick V. Keel. Gwen leaves her cherish precious memories to ten children: Cheryl (Joe) Keel, Larry (Juanita)Jenkins, T. C. Jenkins, Deborah Avant, Charlotte Avant, Roslyn Avant, Raymond Avant, James Avant, Carol Trice and Tyrone Trice; thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren; five great-great children; her adopted children, Julie (Victor) Lance, John (Alestor) Pryor, Helen Morris Horne, Phyliss Frazier, Earlene Tanya Williams, Darrell, Sally, Marcus, Bren, Eric and Kelly; her adopted sister, Dorothy Cade; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
