Hayes Evans

Hayes Hedrick Evans was born on July 15, 1928 in Horry County, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Willie and Rhodel Evans. He departed this life on July 4, 2022 at home. Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his wife, Maggie Jorhetta (Candy) Evans; two sons, Thomas Evans and Ronald (Kathy) Evans; and sister, Flossie (Allen) Conner. He leaves to cherish his son, Greg (Sheila) Evans and daughter, Sabrina Evans; three granddaughters, Chelsea Evans (Dr. Eze Okeagu), Taylor Evans, and Sydney Evans; one sister, Edna Mae Eagles and his dear companion, Clara Vereen Wilson. Mr. Evans attended Allen University and Tuskegee University where he was drafted and honorably served in the United States Army in frontline combat as a sniper. He was honored with a Korean Service Medal, a W11 Bronze Service Medal, and a United Nations Service Medal. In addition, Mr. Evans was a member of Silver Star Masonic Lodge 333. After returning to civilian life, he owned and operated Cedar Creek Construction Company until his retirement. 

The Viewing will be held Thursday, July 7,2022 from2PM to 6PM at Latimer's Funeral Home

The Funeral will be held Friday, July 8,2022 at 4PM at Mt Zion AME Cemetery on Mt Zion Road in Little River, SC
