Joyce Q. Jones

Joyce Quintaine (Quinn) Jones was born on March 14, 1946, in Conway, SC, to the late William Taft Alford and Thillian Jones Alford. She transitioned from this earth into eternal life on Thursday, November 21, 2024, peacefully at her home. Quinn received her early education in the public schools of Conway, SC, and graduated with the Class of 1963 from Whittemore High School. After studying at Benedict College, she returned home to begin her family life. She was married to the late Bruce L. Jones, and they were blessed with two children, Monique and Brucie. Quinn accepted Christ as a young adult and was an aive member of Cherry Hill Missionary Baptist Church, faithfully attending Sunday School and, with her rich melodious voice, sang in various choirs throughout the years. Having a strong love for children, Quinn ent the first part of her career assisting students as a Library Aide. She then advanced her career as a Librarian Tech at Coastal Carolina University. While at Coastal, she developed countless relationships with students from various departments, including the basketball teams. Her guidance, genuine love, and support of students, faculty, and staff resulted in life-long friendships. She retired from the university in 2004. During her retirement years, continuing her love of children and helping young adults, she began a daycare service from the comfort of her home. She also found time to assist the elderly in her community as a caregiver and to do whatever she could for others with unconditional love. There came a time after being the right hand for others, Quinn fulfilled her desire to travel and end more quality time with her family. She thoroughly enjoyed ending time with her grandsons and watching them play football and basketball. Quinn is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Chester and William (Shingie) and one sister, Sylvia. Quinn leaves to cherish her loving memories, daughter-Monique J. Burgess, son-Bruce (Kimberly), five grandsons; Kennan, Michael, Dorian, Emanuel, and Mason; and two bonus grandsons, Jaylen and Jalik; one brother: Emerson Alford (Ursula) and one sister, Mollye Robinson. Three sisters-in-law: Doris Ballen, Gwen Chestnut, and Bonnie Dewitt; one brother-in-law: Sha'Ron "Pete" Jones. She also leaves an extended family, including nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.

The Viewing will be held Monday, Nov. 25,2024 at Latimer's Funeral Home 2-6PM

The Funeral will be held Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024 at Cherryhill MBC 11AM. Burial will follow in the Rosehill Cemetery.
