Marian D. Anderson

Marian Donnell Anderson, 78, of Loris, South Carolina, formerly of Kinston, North Carolina, entered into eternal rest on August 16, 2025. Born on May 14, 1947, to the late Marion Anderson and Lillie Ruth Granthon, Marian lived a life defined by love, faith, and dedicated service to others.

She spent many years working as a Certified Nursing Assistant and hotel cook, devoting herself to caring for others both professionally and personally. Marian was known for her warm and generous heart, her deep love of gospel music, and her joy in sharing delicious meals with family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Donna Brown-Alexander (Victor Alexander) and Nowa Brown (Carl Macon); her grandchildren, Leon Drake, Amanda Berry (Michelle Berry), Bryttani Jones (Quinn Jones), Shantell Brown, and Claudia Macon (Derek Bennett); and her great-grandchildren, Cody, Demarco, London, Ava, Acacia, Zander, and Harper. She is also survived by her siblings, Nancy Anderson, Larry Anderson, and Marion Anderson; her godson, Justin Stanley; and a host of nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents; her special friend of 22 years, John W. Williams, her grandson, Demarco Brown; her sisters, Effie Anderson, Inez Anderson, Alberta Anderson, and Teresa Anderson; and her brothers, Jimmy Pearson and Eugene Pearson.

The Viewing will be held Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2025 at Latimer's Funeral Home 2-6PM.

A Homegoing Celebration honoring Marian’s life will be held   Wed. Aug. 27,2025 at Mt. Calvary #2 Missionary Baptist Church in Brooksville, South Carolina 1PM

Marian will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, godmother, and friend, whose spirit and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
