Ms. Mary Ann Harriott, age 75, of 2502 Highway 378, Conway, S.C., died May 27, 2026, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness.
Life of Mary Ann Harriott
Mary Ann Harriott was born on March 21, 1951, in Conway, South Carolina, to the late Benjamin Franklin Johnson and Margaret Johnson. On May 27, 2026, she peacefully entered eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, service, and devotion.
Mary was raised in the Oak Grove Community, affectionately known as the "905" section of Conway. It was there that she developed the strong values and unwavering faith that guided her throughout her life. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a devoted member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she faithfully worshipped and served throughout her life.
Mary attended Horry County Schools and proudly graduated from Whittemore High School in 1969. Determined to further her education, she later earned degrees in Criminal Justice and Culinary Arts.
Mary faithfully served the City of Conway as a Dispatch Supervisor for seventeen years before retiring. Her professionalism, leadership, and commitment to excellence earned the respect and admiration of her coworkers and the community she served. Following her retirement, she continued sharing her gifts in the hospitality industry as an Executive Chef and Manager, where her culinary talents brought joy to many.
Known for her infectious smile, gentle spirit, and calm demeanor, Mary possessed a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcomed and loved. Whether through a warm conversation, a delicious meal, or a simple act of kindness, she touched countless lives and left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
Above all else, Mary cherished her family. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. Her family was her greatest joy, and she poured her love into every generation.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Jamie Alfreda Harriott; her brother, Benjamin Johnson Jr.; and her sister, Helen Patricia Deas.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her loving and devoted husband of fifty-seven years, James Edward Harriott; three daughters, Michele (Lorenzo) Singleton, Margaret Latonya Harriott, and Paige (Julius) Harriott; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends; her special friend, Jesse Hamilton ("Sis"); and two devoted sisters-in-law, Mary (George) Parmely and Kimberly Green.
Though our hearts are saddened by her passing, we rejoice in knowing that Mary lived a life rooted in faith, love, service, and devotion to God and family. Her legacy will continue through the many lives she touched and the countless memories she leaves behind.
