Mary Eliza "Dale" Smith

Mary Eliza Smith, affectionately known to most as “Dale” was the daughter of the late Eliza Johnson of Conway, S. C. and Cleveland Alan Smith of Georgetown S. C.    

Born December 10, 1950 in Conway, S. C.  She was called to eternal rest on  Tuesday, May 26th 2020 at The Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, S. C. following a brief illness.    

She was educated in the public schools of Horry county.  A graduate of Whittemore High School with the class of 1970.   

Mary had a large caring heart and her passion was helping others. She pursued the professions of providing care as a Home Health Aide and Infant Daycare worker.

Knowing that this day would come, she began her preparation at an early age by connecting herself with Bethel AME church in Conway where she was a faithful member.

Mary leaves to cherish memories, one daughter, Carlotta Smith of Conway, SC; one sister Hazel Johnson Spruill of Bronx, New York; along with a host of sorrowing relatives.

She is predeceased by siblings Elizabeth Johnson, Frank “Boy Blue” Johnson, Lilly Mae Johnson, Susie Mae Johnson, William “Bill” Johnson, Henry ”Rocky” Johnson,  Joseph “Pie Joe” Smith,  Nathaniel Smith,  Theresa Hemingway, and Rose Lee Grant.
