Olland Marlow

Olland Corneilius Marlow, affectionately known as Pete, was born to the late Austin Julius Marlow and Mary Pearline Gore on February 1, 1949. He departed this life on Wednesday July 21, 2021. 
Pete started working with his father AJ, a commercial fisherman, when he was about 10 years old on their own fishing boat, fishing and shrimping the coasts of the Carolinas, Georgia all the way down to Key West Florida. Pete loved cars and loved working on car engines. He could fix any engine put in front of him. He then moved to Spring Valley New York in 1969 and began working at Rockland Psychiatric Center. Shortly thereafter he met Mary Louise Walloe "Candy" and they married on August 15, 1970. They remained married for the next 50 years. From this union they had five children: Odin Marlow "Petie" of New York City, Damon Marlow (Christiane) of Charleston SC, Benjamin Joel Marlow of Calabash NC, Austin Julius Marlow (Danielle) of North Myrtle Beach SC and Farrah Marlow Reid (Eric) of Jacksonville NC. Pete had Seven grandchildren: Damion, Brianna, Keyara, Christina, Erykah, AJ and Aminah. Pete also had two daughters from previous unions: MuShanda Lucrece Williams of Oakland  CA and Dianna "Michelle" Stevenson (Jeffery) of Little River who preceded him in death on December 29, 2020. Dianna had five children: Chantal, Jeffery, Alonzo, Mikel and Eden along with three grandchildren: Syanna, Brooklyn and Ezekiel.  
In 1982 Pete & Candy and their children moved back to the Shallotte area where he began working as a small engine mechanic at Marsh Harbor Golf Links until 1990. From there he worked at The Pearl Golf Links until 2013 and from there he retired from Sandpiper Bay Golf & Country Club in 2016.
Pete has four brothers and two sisters who preceded him in death: Austin Julius Marlow Jr., John Willie Marlow, James "Tommy" Marlow, Carolyn Ann Marlow-McNeil, Dianne Marlow-Ward and Willie Earl Marlow.  
Pete leaves behind Two Brothers: William "Buddy" Marlow (Ann) of Cary NC and Michael Marlow (Rachel) of Hawley PA and four sisters: Gerotha Lee Marlow of Garnerville NY, Leronia Bellamy of Shallotte NC, Edna Marlow of Calabash NC, and Polly Livingston of Poplar SC. He also leaves a host of nieces and nephews who looked up to him as a father.  
We love you Daddy. You will be missed. 

The Viewing will be held Sunday July 25, 2021 2-6PM at Latimer's Funeral Home

The Funeral will be Monday  July 26, 2021 1PM at Ocean View MB Center  in Sunset Beach, NC. Burial will follow in The Pleasant Grove Cemetery Hwy. 17 S Tree Swamp Trail Calabash, NC.

 Please bring lawn chair due to limited seating and water.
