Patricia Lane

Patricia Lynese Stanley Lane, affectionately known as “Tricia” and later in life as “Pat”, was born in Conway, SC to Mrs. Gracie Stanley and the late Deacon Ethell Stanley. On August 7, 1948, this beautiful baby girl was received and welcomed into this world by her loving parents. She was blessed to grow up in a Christian home where an emphasis was placed on love of God, people, church and community as well as the importance of good work ethics, integrity, respect and sense of self worth.

The family’s Christian values led her to great involvement as a youth in Sunday school, Sunday afternoon BTU (Baptist Training Union) and numerous youth leadership organizations. Pat accepted Christ as her personal savior and was baptized at Cherry Hill Missionary Baptist Church when she was in the 7th grade.

Patricia attended the Horry County public schools and graduated with honors from the former Whittemore High School in 1966. Higher educational pursuit led her to Hampton Institute (Hampton University), where she earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology in 1970 and several years later she earned a Master’s of Education degree from Coastal Carolina College/Coastal Carolina University in Conway, SC in 1977. Patricia served as biology instructor for 33 years at Conway High School. She was the recipient of honor to receive the “Teacher of the Year” award for the entire Horry County School District in 1983. Patricia served in numerous capacities with the auxiliaries of the Church. After retiring in 2004, volunteer time was spent working at the church’s Samaritan House (food & clothing bank) and as a Cub Scout leader of Pack 812. In 2007, Pat re-entered the teaching field as the Education teacher at the brand new school known as Academy for Technology and Academics located between Loris and Conway.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Lane and her father, Deacon Ethell Stanley.

Patricia is a Daughters of Isis, a Past Matron of Evening Star Chapter #183 of Conway, Past Grand Associate Deputy for Cluster 1 of District VI, Chairman of the Committee for Grand Administrative Degree for Matrons and Patrons, served as the Grand Supervising Deputy for District VI Order of the Eastern Star (Horry & Williamsburg Counties), and on August 22, 2009 was commissioned and given the privilege to serve as Grand Supervising Deputy for District 8 (Dillon, Marion & Horry Counties). Through her accomplishments, it is evident that God was the head of her life. Patricia leaves a lifetime of treasured memories to her devoted son Mr. Samuel “LaRhue” (Sharonda) Lane and their son Clarence Jones of Charlotte, NC, her mother Gracie Stanley of Conway SC, her brother Mr. H. Ronald (Rita) Stanley, Esq of Columbia, SC; and a host of loving nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and a lasting memory in every student she taught. 

Viewing will be at Latimers Funeral Home Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2020 3:30-7:30PM . The Graveside Funeral will be held at Rosehill Cemetery 4:30PM Wed. Aug. 5, 2020.
