Rebecca Bellamy Obituary

She was the Mother of  Mr. Perry " Big Dawg" Bellamy of Homewood, SC and  Mrs. Rita Holloway  of Columbia, SC.On Saturday, July 17th, Sister Rebecca Long Bellamy peacefully slipped into eternal rest at home after a short illness, surrounded by her loving family. Rebecca Long Bellamy was born on September 13, 1930 to the late Deacon Joe Long, Sr. and Sister Ruth Cochran Long in Conway, South Carolina. She was the youngest and last remaining sibling. Sister Rebecca accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a lifelong member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully. She served in several capacities within the church: Senior Missionary, Kitchen Ministry, Senior Choir – Vice President, Usher Ministry and Outreach Ministry. She always went beyond the call of duty in making sure the church was represented in the Kingston Lake events. She was a friend to everyone in the community and offered her assistance to all in need. She enjoyed cooking and spending quality time with her family. She was affectionately known as one of the “Mothers” of the church who encouraged and motivated all through her love, beautiful smile and dedication to God and the church. She was a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Willing Workers Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 323. An active member of the Kingston Lake Women’s Auxiliary, Benevolence Committee, KL Union Choir, Associational Choir, and Treasurer of the KL Music Auxiliary. She was employed with AVX of Myrtle Beach and retired after more than 20 years of service. She was also employed as an Insurance Agent with Primerica for more than 15 years. She later utilized her skills as a Nursing Assistant to provide care for the elderly. She was joined in holy matrimony to the late Mr. Richard Bellamy, Sr. who preceded her in death. They were blessed with four children. She was preceded in death by two sons, Richard Bellamy, Jr. and Winston Bellamy; six brothers, Deacon Elmore Long, Sr., Wilbert Long, Sr., Steven Long, Rufus Long, Sr., Edward Long, and Joe Long, Jr.; two sisters, Velma Long Hickman and Marie Long Counts. She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Perry Bellamy of Conway, SC; one daughter, Rita (Mark) Holloway of Columbia, SC; one daughter-in-law, Sharon Bellamy; five grandchildren, Lashawn “Kesha” Alderman of Savannah, GA, Faith (Douglas) Owens of Henrico, VA, Paul Bellamy of Conway, SC, Marcus Holloway of Germany, and Damian Frazier of Bucksport, SC; three great grandchildren, Sa’Maya, Layla and Malia; lifelong devoted sister, Mildred H. Welch; and a host of loving and caring nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; special niece, Carolyn Hickman-Williams; special nephew, Victor Long.
