Rita Hewitt Prochaska, daughter of Miles and Millie Hewitt (deceased) was born in Newton Conover, NC on October 24,1935. She became a guardian angel on October 21, 2021. Rita graduated from Newton High School and later married to become a military wife. She traveled around the world, living in some of the most extraordinary places. Through her global adventures, she grew to be an exceptional mother who learned to appreciate all cultures and walks of life, giving her wisdom that touched the lives of her children, grandchildren and so many more. The ones she touched remember her most for her infectious smile, thoughtful gift giving and bright personality that never met a stranger. There was never a moment that Rita missed, and the many thoughtful cards she would send commemorating those milestones will be kept and treasured forever. She was a generous and giving person reflected by her time spent volunteering with the Red Cross at a young age. She continued to prioritize philanthropy as she grew older, volunteering at the Boston Marathon, her church and at a local symphony each year. Rita is a special woman with many layers. From teaching yoga to modeling in Beverly Hills, she was a tenacious woman who taught the ones in her life to chase their dreams and never take no for an answer. She is already greatly missed and will always be a constant source of inspiration to the lives she touched.
Rita is survived by her three children: Scott and (Jan) Prochaska of Sagle Idaho, Barry and (Darlene) Prochaska of Greensboro, NC and Joe'l Sanfilippo of Myrtle Beach, SC
