Mrs. Sally Mae DeWitt, 88, entered eternal life Thursday, June 3, 2021. Sally was born to Mack and Willene Cunningham on December 25, 1932 in Kershaw, S.C. Sally graduated from Brooklyn Boys and Girls High School in Brooklyn, New York. While working in New York she met her husband, Ernest, a bus driver, on the bus. She worked as a Federal Police Officer for the U.S. Postal Service for 27 years. Sally retired from the Postal Service in 1993. After retirement Sally and Ernest moved to Conway, S.C. Sally joined a bowling league and she also sewed/making clothes and items for the house. She loved attending and being a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Her faith in the Lord was very strong. She was very adept at doing DIY projects around the house. She was the female Bob Villa and Ernest was the chef in the house. She loved planting flowers and taking care of her pets. Twice (not at the same time) she had squirrel monkeys. She would sew little suits and caps for them. They would ride in the car with us when we would go out. She would put little diapers on them in case they made a boo boo. She also loved cats. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, her parents, her brother, William R. Cunningham, Sr. and sister -in -law Burrell Cunningham, a nephew, Ray Charles Cunningham (at age of 3) and a niece, Wilhelmina (Cottie) Cunningham. Sally leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Bonita R. DeWitt of South Chesterfield, VA; two sons, Ronald DeWitt (Carol) of Bowie, MD and Ernest DeWitt, Jr. of Bronx, New York; 2 granddaughters, Sharkina S. DeWitt of Atlanta, GA , and Veronica M. DeWitt of Bowie, MD; 4 loving nephews, William Cunningham, Jr. of Seattle, Washington, Andre Cunningham of Charlotte, NC, DeWitt Cunningham (Brendale) of Camden, SC, and Alphonso Cunningham (Chanel) of Hampton, GA; 1 loving niece, Cecelia Denise Cunningham of Charlotte, NC; 2 brothers-in-law, James DeWitt and Stafford DeWitt (Diane); 3 sisters -in -law, Annie Wise, Lettie Cromity (Steve) and Eula DeWitt. Sally also leaves a host of other nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, cousins and friends. Public viewing will be held at Latimer's Funeral Home Thursday June 17, 2021 2-6PM. The Funeral will be held Friday June 18, 2021 3Pm at Rosehill Cemetery.
