Timothy Johnson Obituary

Timothy Jerome Johnson, Sr. was granted comfort and rest when he quietly departed this life on June 22, 2022.

Tim was born to Margaret Johnson Moore and the late Ollis Donald Johnson, Jr. on May 4, 1967, in Southport, NC.

He accepted Christ  as his Lord and Savior at an early age and joined  Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Fairfield, California . He attended Mascoutah High School in Mascoutah, IL and shortly thereafter, he joined and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. After returning to civilian life Tim made his home in Little River, SC.

During his time in Little River Tim held various jobs in the hospitality and customer service industry. He was a hard worker and always willing to help wherever and whenever needed. In 1995 he met and married Crystal Lewis, and to this union two children were born. Tim then went to school to become a truck driver and as with any other job he worked, gave his best effort, and was often well loved and invaluable to his employer. Soon after this he rededicated his life to Christ and worked tirelessly in the AME church as a trustee, young adult choir member, men’s choir member, as well as a member of the hospitality committee and the Sons of Allen. Lovingly referred to as Boomhauer, he didn’t meet a stranger, only friends he hadn’t talked to yet. He inherited his grandmother Eva’s green thumb; he didn’t meet a plant that he couldn’t make grow and thrive. More recently he dedicated time and energy into caring for his mother.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ollis Donald Johnson II, his paternal grandparents Ollis Donald (Ressa) Johnson I,  maternal grandparents Wilbur (Eva) Graham I, uncle and father figure William Henderson Johnson; along with cousin and lifelong friend, Warren Frinks.

He is survived by his wife, Crystal Johnson; daughter Phoenix Johnson; son Timothy Johnson, Jr. of Columbia, SC; his mother, Margaret Johnson Moore of Loris, SC; three sisters Penny Johnson of Loris, SC, Alison Burkes, of Austell, GA, and Kenyatta Moore of Monroe, NC; two brothers-in-law Wallace Lewis of Hameln Germany, Glenn (Jonelle) Lewis of Decatur, IL; three sisters-in-law Chandria Cox and Lisa (Jason) Green of Little River, SC and Tema Hill of Columbia, SC, best friend and godfather to Phoenix and Timothy Rayfus Jones. He also leaves to cherish his memory his brothers-in-arms of Charlie Company First Battalion 9th Marine; his bonus grandmother Lenora Johnson; his great aunt Mary Gore; loving and devoted cousins Collins (Glendor) Livingston, and Carolyn Lane along with a host of other sorrowing relatives and friends.
